This year’s Tech•Ed Europe was bigger than ever with over 7200 attendees and more than 600 different learning opportunities. The Developer ant IT Pro weeks were jammed together into one single week at the enormous Messe Berlin. Compared to previous years, it felt like the sessions and the exhibition area had more content intended for the IT Pro community than it did for us developers.
The biggest news was the announcement of the Teamprise Client Suite Acquisition and the release of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The Orchard Project was quietly “announced” over on Codeplex (with a number of minor releases during this past week). It was held as an Interactive Discussion during Tech•Ed which I, sad to say, missed out on. Orchard is a new effort to produce free, open source, reusable components and a full-featured CMS application. It’s based on a small core team of dedicated ASP.NET developers that are seeking the guidance and contribution of the .NET community at-large to help shape this project in its early stages.
Well, TechEd Europe 2009 is over for this year, but the learning continues. All sessions, some tech-talks and more were recorded and are available to view online. While some sessions require a TechEd Online subscription, here are a few that don’t:
- Lap around Microsoft ASP.NET 4 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 - Jeff King
Learn about ASP.NET 4.0 and the new Visual Studio 2010 improvements that will make you more productive. Control the rendering of client IDs and View State, see some Visual Studio 2010 IntelliSense improvements including JQuery, HTML snippets, and the new deployment features. - Microsoft Visual Studio Tips and Tricks - Scott Cate
